University of Newcastle
The University of Newcastle is located two hours north of Sydney, in the coastal city of Newcastle.
Famous for it's pristine beaches and passionate sporting community, this post-industrial city has been undergone a resurgence since the 1990s.
From a city with a singularly-geared industrial economy and a conservative local culture - Newcastle has been the epicentre for a tourism boom that has spread from the beaches of the Central Coast, north of the Sydney metropolitan districts - to the world-reknowned wine producing areas of the appropriately named Wine Country, north of the Newcastle CBD.
Together with a sharp increase in the intake of international students, this flourishing of tourism-related industries has supported a thriving cultural community within the Newcastle CBD.
This newly cosmopolitan community continues to exploit the best of the "old Newcastle" - the area is abundant in natural bushland and its beaches are still regarded by many of being among Australia's best-kept secrets.
Newcastle today is synonymous with modern Australia, with a vibrant multicultural community and offering a range of study, living and recreational opportunities.
